The biggest feature of the BYD S8 is naturally the design of the hardtop convertible. the BYD S8's hardtop opening and closing is done electronically controlled and hydraulically powered, and the driver only has to gently press the electric switch under the parking handle and the opening and closing process can be done automatically. The hardtop opens in 25 seconds.

In terms of configuration, BYD S8 has Keyless keyless system, a one-touch start system, a NAVI voice electronic navigation system, a car TV, an automatic air-conditioning system, a back-up camera, a virtual surround sound audio system, and other configurations to enhance the safety and comfort of driving control.

Powering the BYD S8 is a 2.0L BYD483QB engine with BIVT variable air intake system (air intake tract) technology. The maximum power is 103kW/6000rpm and the peak torque is 186N-m/4000-4500rpm. As for the transmission, the S8 is equipped with a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission, the latter with a 6-speed manual mode.
